August Athlete of the Month: Chris Anderson

Tell us about yourself (e.g. interests, hobbies, occupation, life story, struggles and/or successes)

I spent four years in the Marine Corps.   I have worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Rigger for 15 years.  I was a High School Wrestling Coach for many years. I have four amazing children.   I have struggled with weight for most of my adult life until about a year ago when I began working out at Crossfit 207  and changed my eating habits.

How and when did you first discover Crossfit:

I discovered Crossfit several years ago but due to knee surgery, the timing wasn’t right to try it.   I started at the Crossfit 207 gym a year ago doing the bar belt club with Jamie as my coach. I took my first Crossfit class about a month later and have been committed ever since. Crossfit has changed my life.

What is your favorite thing about the gym/Crossfit:

The coaches, especially Anne and Lance.  I also enjoy the sense of community that the gym has.  Everyone is supportive.

Favorite color: Green

Favorite food:  Pizza and medium rare ribeye steak.

Favorite exercise: deadlift

Most dreaded exercise: Overhead squat

Personal best: 300lbs deadlift and   250lb back squat
