Tell us a little about yourself:

Im 25 years old, I am an active duty Soldier, I joined the Army when I was 17. Since being in the Army I have deployed to Afghanistan and I have been stationed in Salt Lake City Utah, Londonderry NH, and now Saco ME. I am engaged to my fiancé Dani and we have an 11 month old baby girl named Oaklyn, two dogs and a hairless cat.

How did you discover CrossFit?

I tried Crossfit for the first time in January 2016. Originally I heard about it in 2014 when I was living in Utah because there was a box right next to the “Gym” I went to. It always looked competitive and fun but I never tried it for whatever reason. Then when I was stationed in Londonderry I saw a CrossFIt sign and told my fiancé about it and she bought me a beginner’s course certificate at a gym close to our house. The rest is history.

How has CrossFit helped you?

Crossfit has shown me what the human body is capable of, which is well beyond what we imagine. It has motivated me to each right and healthy. It has strengthened injuries that never could have been strengthened in the past with old fashion weight lifting. After each work out I am motivated to crush the rest of the day at home and at work. CrossFit has given me a fun, healthy, and competitive outlet in life.

When I first joined the Army I dislocated my shoulder in basic training, which was in 2009. Since then my shoulder has dislocated approximately 100 times from every day things. When I first started CrossFit I could not overhead squat 95 pounds because my shoulder was too weak. Since joining CrossFit I have dislocated my shoulder 1 time due to a non-gym related activity and my shoulder has been strengthened beyond belief.

What is your favorite thing about the gym

My favorite thing about the gym is seeing every person around you pushing their bodies and limits to accomplish one common goal, and that’s to be fitter and healthier than they were before they got to the gym. Every single person is kind, happy and supportive.

Favorite Color: Green

Favorite Food: Kodiak Pancakes w/ Maple Almond Butter

Favorite Exercise: Ski-erg / Handstand walks

Most dreaded exercise: Burpee box jumps and Thrusters

Personal Best: Currently I’m most proud of my snatch, 225# because of how weak my shoulder used to be.
